October 12, 2002 - "Joe Sixpack" Is America's Best Beer Writer
Philadelphia Daily News feature writer Don Russell, who writes a biweekly beer column under the pseudonym "Joe Sixpack," was named "Beer Writer of the Year" by the North American Guild of Beer Writers at its Annual Awards Dinner during the Great American Beer Festival last weekend.

Russell won an unprecedented six first places in individual categories: Best Column, News, Culture, History, Humor & Travel. Judging was done by the University of North Carolina Journalism School.
