Second Annual Portand (Maine) Brew Festival August 31, 2012 - September 01, 2012 - Portland Company Complex, 58 Fore St., Portland Go to this URL
Designed for beer, ale, mead and cider lovers of all levels, the festival will spotlight established and up-and-coming breweries throughout New England. More than 30 beer producers, including local favorites Gritty McDuff’s, Allagash, Kennebec Ciders and D.L. Geary Brewing, have already signed on alongside regional standouts Clown Shoes and Harpoon from Massachusetts, Moonlight Meadery and Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery from New Hampshire, and Magic Hat, Long Trail and White Birch from Vermont.

The event will feature traditional scheduled sessions, each with a limited admission. The first session is scheduled for Friday, August 31, 5:30 – 9 p.m.; additional sessions are scheduled for Saturday, September 1, from 12-4 p.m. and 5:30-9 p.m. More details and tickets online.

Delco SPCA Fund Raiser @ Beer Yard September 01, 2012 - The Beer Yard
One of our favorite events every year and one at which your generosity helps a very worthy cause, the Delaware County SPCA. As usual, we will be sampling Tröegs beers, enjoying good food from Teresa's Next Door cooking right on the grill out front of the store and having a great time. Free pint glasses with the purchase of a Tröegs case (while they last)

$5 from every case of Tröegs sold during the whole Labor Day Week and from every check at Teresa's with "SPCA" written on it over that same stretch will be donated to the Delco SPCA.. 1-4pm. See you here...and bring your dogs (leashed); they'll love it too.

We all know that beer and cheese were made for each other. (If you didn't know that, now you do.) But the cheeses of Jasper Hill and the beers of Hill Farmstead were are really meant for each other. They both come from beautiful Greensboro, Vermont, a small town that's gaining acclaim everyday - the new (rural) Brooklyn. What grows together goes together, so get your brain and your taste buds back into school mode with Jasper's Zoe Brickley. Zoe will showcase a selection of Jasper Hill cheeses versus their iconic Old-World counterparts. And since those Vermont folk are so kind, she’ll also be bringing down some new Hill Farmstead brews (not available in Philadelphia!) to sip against their own Old-World inspirations. The Brew Fest will be a celebration of the local Craft Breweries along with locally home-brewed beer. The proceeds from this event will be used for required training and to improve equipment that is essential for fire protection for Perkiomen Township and surrounding communities.

If you want to have your beer judged there are 3 locations you can do so and it's free; Weak Knee Home Brew Supply in Pottstown, Craft Ale House in Limerick, Appalachian Brewing Company in Collegeville. The couple has asked a few of their Philadelphian culinary friends to join them in the kitchen to help prepare the five-course meal.
