August 23, 2004 - General Lafayette Will Offer 750ml Bottles of Big Beers Next Spring
Chris Leonard, owner and head brewer at General Lafayette Inn & Brewery in Lafayette Hill, has confirmed the rumors he is laying down and plans to bottle some of his bigger beers.

But don't too excited just yet.

"We probably won't have anything bottled and ready for sale before next spring," Leonard said. "We everything to be at least a year old before we start. Assistant brewer Russ Czajka and I built a big cabinet in the basement and figure we'll have room for about 500 bottles."

The bottles will be sold at the pub exclusively as part of a Vintage Beer Menu.

"We're laying down only beers where are 8.5% abv or higher," Leonard explained. "So far we have both the Lafayette's Revenge 2002 Barleywine and the Mc'Glynn's Ghost 2003 Barleywine, 2002 and 2004 Shutout Imperial Stout, Double Thunder Imperial Porter and Weizenheimer Weizenbock laid down."

Leonard also said that General Lafayette's ongoing facelift will involve new windows, painting the outside and, "if the zoning board is so kind," a 400-square foot addition at the front entrance to add new rest rooms, a waiting area and small expansion of the back bar.

Leonard will be at the Slow Food Expo in Italy in late September and thus miss the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, but Czajka and General Lafayette beers will be on hand.
