A recorded telephone message at the pub tells callers that the pub is permanently closed and thanks them for their patronage.

Founder Henry Ortlieb died on July 4 in a fishing accident while vacationing in Costa Rica. The pub has been shuttered ever since and promises that it would reopen in September were received skeptically by those familiar with the situation. Rumors have it that buyer has been found for the Sunnybrook entity but that brewery equipment will be sold off.

Former head brewer Bill More is now with Reading's Legacy Brewing in a sales capacity.
