September 03, 2004 - Tom Peters, Ed Friedland, Randy Thiel Honored in Belgium: Tom Peters of Monk's Cafe, Ed Friedland of Edward I. Friedland Distributors and Brewery Ommegang head brewer Randy Thiel were inducted into the Knighthood of the Brewers' Mashstaffs (Chevalerie du Fourquet des Brasseurs) on September 3 as part of the opening ceremonies for the sixth annual Brussels Beer Festival.
The three Americans were cited for their contributions to Belgian ales in the United States. Michel Moortgat, director general of Duvel Moortgat, will award each of them the title of Chevalier (Knight of Brewers) during ceremonies at the Magdalena Church.
