- October 04, 2005 - Iron Hill Named "Large Brewpub of the Year" at GABF
- Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant was named the Large Brewpub of the Year and Director of Brewing Operations Mark Edleson named Large Brewpub Brewer of the Year today at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, powered to the national honor by winning Gold Medals for iKriek De Hill (Belgian-style Sour Ale category) and Belgian Strong (Belgian-style Strong category) and a Bronze for Ironbound Ale (American-style Pale Ale category). Despite being listed as from the Wilmington pub, all three were brewed in Pennsylvnaia, in West Chester and Media.
Triumph Brewing Company's New Hope pub won three medals (Gold for Triumph Honey Wheat in the American-style Wheat Beer category; Silver for Triumph Dunkel in the European-style Dark/Munchner category, and Bronze for Triumph German Pilsener in the German-style Pilsener category) and its Princeton pub won Silver for Triumph Czech Pilsener in the Bohemian-style Pilsener category.
Nodding Head garnered a Gold for George's Fault (co-brewed with Home Sweet Homebrew's George Hummel) in the Specialty Honey Lager or Ale category and a Bronze for Ich Bin Ein Berliner Weisse in the German-style Wheat Ale category. John Harvard's Wayne pub (the GABF list credits Springfield) won Gold for its Devon Altbier in the German-style Brown Ale/Dusseldorf Altbier category and Dogfish Head took a Silver for Midas Touch Golden Elixir in the Specialty Honey Lager or Ale category. to complete an impressive 11 medal total for Philadelphia area breweries.
