January 25, 2006 - Iron Hill Hopes For June Opening In Phoenixville, Eyes Additional Expansion
Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant is "hoping for a June time frame" for the opening of newest location on Bridge Street in Phoenixville, Brewery Operations Manager and co-founder told The Beer Yard yesterday.

The pub, which will be the sixth for the Delaware-based chain, was originally supposed to open this month but construction delays resulted in the actual framework of the structure not taking shape until late last year. "Things seem to be coming along a little faster now," said Edelson.

The 5,800 square foot Phoenixville pub will be located on the on the first floor of a new four-story building and will be as part of a three-restaurant complex centered around the long standing and popular Columbia Bar & Grill. It will be smaller than the five existing ones, with a five-barrel brewery capable of producing 150 gallons per batch, roughly half the capacity of the other Iron Hill sites.

Iron Hill's current locations are in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware; West Chester, Media and North Wales, Pennsylvania. The company was named Large Brewpub of the Year at GABF 2005 in Denver last October. P>Edelson also became the first person involved in swirling rumors about a brewery, or breweries, considering a brewpub site in Kennett Square to publicly address the issue. "I'm not sure what it's all about," he laughed. "We went and looked at thd site about two weeks ago, well after all the rumors started." The site wasn't very promising, he added.

More intriguingly, Edleson closed by noted "[Kennett Square] is among some eight projects we are currently looking at."
